Goverment Confirm Home Information Packs Enforcement

The Government has once again confirmed that Home Information Packs (HIPs ) will come into force on the 1st June, with the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) taking prominence as the first and most important document in the Home Information Pack.

This news was confirmed as the Government laid down its revised Home Information Pack Regulations affecting the implementation of Home Condition Reports and Energy Performance Certificates on 29th March.

Commenting on the news, Director of energy-assessors.com, Stephen Callaghan said:

"This news reinforces our long-held view that the energy ratings are a key driver of the HIP reforms. The Government has also confirmed that there are a significant number of Domestic Energy Assessors (DEAs) and Home Inspectors (HIs) in training, which, along with the vast numbers expected to enter training in the next few weeks as the national advertising campaign takes effect, will be more than capable of meeting requirements on 1st June. energy-assessors.com alone will have at least 870 fully trained Assessors by that date, enough to service almost one third of the entire market."

"Yesterday’s regulations prove that the Government and the army of Energy Assessors are prepared for the 1st June, when the issue of energy-efficiency in our homes will rightly come to the fore and ultimately help us meet the wider challenge of reducing carbon emissions in the UK."

"It is vital that qualified Domestic Energy Assessors and Home Inspectors are able to find and secure a reliable supply of EPC and HCR instructions. As the largest employer and panel manager of DEAs in the UK there are immediate business opportunities available."
